Looks like the Sci-Fi Channel is planning an MMO in which the actions of the players will shape and guide an ongoing television show.

A television show that is on once a week isn’t enough. The fans today want the experience to go beyond that. For example, we can tell them that there will be an alien invasion at a certain place in the game, at a certain time, and to be there with all their friends and be ready. The outcome depends on them. And then that battle will be part of the universe in the show. -Dave Howe, CEO of the Sci-Fi Channel

This was actually planned a long time ago for the Battlestar Galactica series, but scrapped for more traditional scripts. Little is known about the project other than that it exists.

Sci-Fi needs to get cooking on this project if they are planning to go live by 2010, especially since once Battlestar Galactica goes off the air is there any reason to even watch the Sci-Fi channel anymore?
