Comicpress 2.5 Now In Use

Sunday, July 6th, 2008

So I just did a lot of work to basically make the site look exactly the same. Why, you ask. I’ve upgraded to ComicPress 2.5. The new version of ComicPress had several new features and one key fix that I couldn’t ignore.

First off, the new version of ComicPress comes with 5 different layouts right out of the box. I had customized my previous layouts, but had ended up messing up short pages and the search results page. This new version took care of that for me and I decided to go ahead and use the three column layout. Now, when leaving a comment, if you are already logged into your WordPress account it will use those credentials and also display your avatar. And my personal favorite, with the old version, when you click previous blog entries you would get the previous entry instead of a page of the 10 previous entries, this new version has fixed that woot!

I kept the same design for the most part. There are several things that I need to revisit, such as the ad in the left sidebar and various SEO issues, but I’m happy with it for now. Now, off to actually do a comic.

Dear Best Buy: Ubuntu Is Still Free Software

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

Good news! Best Buy is finally selling Ubuntu!

If I could quote ubuntu.com

Ubuntu will always be free of charge, including enterprise releases and security updates.

Now, I understand that the GNU actually encourages the sale of free software, but come on. One DVD for $19.99, plus an anoying Geek Squad turd trying up-sell you. It’s crap like this that helps me understand why Physical Media Stores will go by the way side very soon.

So pick up your copy of this free OS at Best Buy for only $19.99 plus $3.99 S&H. Or, download it for free here.

Hire Better Voice Actors

This is just painful. It’s one of those situations where they would have been better off just letting you read the text yourself. The game being played here is Chaos Wars, developed for the PS2. The PS2? Really? Can Sony just admit that the PS3 is a gigantic failure that wouldn’t be selling at all if it wasn’t for the BluRay player?
